Civil RIGHTS law refers to cases relating in some way to some kind of illegal discrimination based on protected categories such as race, religion, sex, age or disabilities, either by private parties or by the government.

Civil LIBERTIES refers to cases where some government or government-related body has overstepped its powers and violated someone's rights under the United States Constitution

Civil LAW is concerned with relationships between individuals. Civil law covers legal areas such as family, education, employment and landlord/tenant laws. For civil law concerns, please select the relevant message board from the listing.
