So long story short- I moved into this building about six weeks ago, and I didn't realize that it's entirely infested with EVERYTHING. Every tenant rents a room from the landlord (one of these old apartment-type buildings that's above an old shop).
On the second week, I saw mice in the kitchen, and complained to my landlord, and he told me that "...it's an old building, so there's not much [he] can do about it..." and he didn't do anything... until I saw other mice. In my bedroom. Then his solution was to put down about six or so glue traps in the kitchen, and give me an ineffective device that I plug into my wall outlet in my bedroom. The mice are still there.
Since this is more or less a 'house share', the landlord has one of the tenants (one of his relatives) clean the main areas twice a week... and he does not do a sanitary job of it. There's black mold growing in the shower, and two industrial-sized trashcans in the kitchen, where all of the tenants are expected to put their trash, which only encourages cockroaches and mice to stay...
Anyhow, my big issue is that, in the past two or so weeks, I've noticed some 'bumps' all over me, and woke up a few days ago with huge rashes all over my body. I am not allergic to anything that would be causing this, and I know it's due to the infestation of cockroaches (and what I believe to be bedbugs) in this apartment. The LL knows about the issue and claimed that he exterminates twice a year (he and his dad do it... don't think they call a professional), but this place is crawling with bugs.
Sorry if my writing is a little off... I haven't been able to sleep in two days because of the mice and roaches, not kidding. My body is covered in rashes, and I'm going to have to go to the doctor's to get meds and see what's up about this...
I seriously have no respect for a LL that would rent out a place that is in such bad condition (I was originally on the 4th floor (bedrooms only), but my LL had to move me to the second floor, and thus, I discovered the HUGE issues about the first week down there... Anyone have any advice on this?
