You're dealing with a classic workplace bully, and unfortunately, there's no legal protection from people who harass you and seek allies to do the same thing.
I went through the same thing with a personal friend who I had recommended for the job she filled with my employer (no good deed goes unpunished).
Go to HR, specify the words "workplace bully" (an area coming under more scrutiny, and there's lots of information on this issue on the internet), and ask for relief in the form of whatever statements are in the policy manual about employees acting professionally, etc. Don't expect much from HR, but they should make a token attempt to apply a little heat on your harasser and her partners in crime.
Then, don't be surprised if you get the silent treatment, or are treated like you aren't even there. That's usually the next step. But compared to what's been going on, you may welcome that.
I sure did.
