"It is generally known in the medical community that only the looney tunes patients use those sites."
That's what the medical community WANTS the public to believe, but the public is taking control of their own health now and these sites will soon rate ALL of you. Frankly, the medical community has lost the respect of the entire public.
"Stable patients seeking information on a doctor: his/her skills, bedside manner, practices etc. consults friends, family, colleagues, and other physicians for that information."
Impossible to do without research; where does one find that info?
"In all my experience I don't know ONE physician that takes anything from those internet sites seriously."
The sites aren't there for the physicians; who cares what they think? We're rating THEM. They're there for the prospective patients. Soon the bad doctors will be weeded out, another benefit of the internet. They definitely don't want to be rated by the public.
People just don't take physicians seriously, anymore, knowing what we know about the "industry" that made antibiotics useless with their overuse, then refuse them to patients the industry makes sick with their own procedures!
It's a new world where we must take our health into our own hands and not trust blindly...which scares the heck out of these types.
"If you can't answer without such obvious bias you shouldn't be responding."
And who is more biased than one who works in the industry? As you "obvious"ly do.
