    Employment/College Transcripts

A friend of mine is a teacher who needs proof (transcripts) of his earned master degree in order to continue teaching-to verify his certification.  The school will not release his transcripts because he owes several thousand dollars to the school.  He will not be allowed to keep his job without the transcripts.  He has tried to set up a payment plan with the school but they refuse to release the transcripts until it is paid in full.  He has only until January to comply with his employer.  Isn't there a law that says that transcripts must be released if employment is dependent upon it?  Does anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed?

Sometimes schools will release unofficials transcripts when the official ones are blocked by nonpayment.  He could ask.

We've seen this question many times before and it's well established that the schools have no legal obligation to release the transcripts when the former student owes money. If fact, it's the only leverage that the school has over a student who hasn't paid.

    No.

    Sure.

He can figure out a way to pay up in full and get his transcript.
