Product Pictures and logos on a website

What does the law state as far as showing pictures of products on a website and perhaps their logo?   If the photo and logo are a link does it make it acceptable?

For example, google and yahoo images show product and logos when you search using their site?

There could be dozens of answers to your question depending on the answers to my questions.

They almost certainly have permission from the parties that own the images.

I would like to post some pictures and perhaps logos on one of my sites and ask poeple to vote on them and perhaps offer opinions about them.

If you go to Google or Yahoo images and search on any image, you can find just about everything (including images from my websites).   Thus, I'm trying to understand legally how that works?

I have a website for a group of athletes where I want to post some pictures of some athletic products and perhaps the logos (just for visual impact).  I want users to be able to comment on the product for others to see.   ... I will not be selling the photos or any of the products, just allowing people to comment on them.
