JUVENILE RECORD FOR A 15 YR BOY

There was an incident when a 15 yr old boy got caught and arrested at his school for tagging. They gave him a FELONY for writing in school on a wall wit a marker which his tag was small! I find this NOT RIGHT such a little offense for him to get a FELONY! This is in  the state of AZ where this occured. Is this right for what they gave him??

Also I wanted to know if you once a person is 18 does there juvenile record clear?? misdamenors and felonies??

How can you clear your juvenile record??

I will greatly appreciate a answer!

    Thanks.

    Of course it's right.

You have any idea what that kind of vandalism costs property owners and cities to remedy?

I had my block wall tagged on two different occasions in the ten years I've been in my house (Im in AZ).

They go back and brag to their friends and have contests as to how much bigger and better and more frequent their taggings can be.

How many times did he tag somebody's property before he got caught? He gets a felony to make up for all the times he didn't get caught.

Juvenile records are sealed and rarely have any effect on one's life after they turn 18.

Here's the AZ statute regarding getting juvenile records cleared:

"I find this NOT RIGHT such a little offense for him to get a FELONY!"

You do the crime you do the time.  Instead of crying foul about the injustice of the charge and whether or not he can get the record cleared when he is no longer a juvenile how about spending more time teaching the little miscreant right from wrong?  Otherwise he is only going to graduate to bigger and better crimes by perfecting his technique.

Quite frankly he has too much time on his hands now if he is defacing property and doesn't already know it's wrong.  It isn't a "mistake" that is the problem.  Too many parents want to label their bad kids problem a "mistake" instead of what it is: crime.  He knew what he was doing was wrong he just HOPED he wouldn't get busted.  Well too bad.  He did.  Now he had to pay the consequences.  If he learns that lesson now hopefully he won't learn the hard way by making that MISTAKE as an adult and end up with a permananent FELONY record.

Some felonies are not subject to "clearing" .  It's according to the felony he was convicted of.

It seems in Arizona that defacing property of a school elevates the offense to the level of a felony; according to how much damage was done( "small tag")  determines what grade felony.

It was a Felony Aggrivated Criminal Damage class 6. Is this type of felony able to get cleared?

Probably yes;  seems he will have to wait until he is at least 18 years old to apply;  consult local counsel as to specifics or ask the attorney who represented him for the offense.

He was never taken into court. He spoke to a Probation Officer, was asked to pay a fine and that was all the action taken.

If you google his name you may very well find the information about his crime.

Fast forward to him applying for his first job or even attempting to get in a good college and hope that no one finds any article about his crime. Students have even been eliminated from colleges for their posts on popular social networking sites.

Just getting his record sealed does not make the conviction or the ability to find it go away.

You said he was "given a felony".

You need to see what, if anything, is on his record, what he was charged with, if he was adjudicated of anything.
