    mistreatment in a county jail

while staying in a county jail was severed  rotten milk rotten fruit  when this was brought up we/i were laughed at told then we shouldnt come to jail  the head jailer said ya i know we had the same problem last summer with the milks.   this is a pay to stay jail they say its to cover our food and clothing ect.  the clothing were wore out i was givin riped pants most often it would get cold at nights i asked for a long sleeve short was refused cause they didnt have any that fit my size.

what i would like to know is if i have a case i would assume that i do and then i would need to know a hard nosed attorny one that dont back down that goes for the throat

If you had water to drink instead of the milk then you were fine.  Not having a long sleeved shirt because they didn't have your size is not mistreatment.  Neither is ripped worn pants.

You are free to use the "Find A Lawyer" feature to see if you can find a lawyer interested in the case.  Be prepared that the fees will be $200-300 an hour and they will want a retainer fee to take the case.  It is likely that you will not find an attorney to take the case on contingency, meaning you will need to pay your lawyer up front.

And how is a "hard-nosed attorney that goes for the throat" going to benefit by ensuring that you have your Snuggies and baby beaker filled with Similac?

    Uh, no

If you don;t like the accommodations don't commit any more crimes.

You didn't answer the question.  How is the attorney going to benefit?  Are you going to pay him/her?  Is the jail going to pay him/her?  Or is it just a free service that you expect?

I doubt that you wil ever find one that will take a % since the odds of winning are about .0000009% and lawyers have bills to pay just like everyone else.

If you had water and food then you were given proper treatment in jail - rotten fruit while not edible was probably not the only food on your plate.

If your goal is to improve treatment of prisoners at the jail then contact the ACLU as Cica suggested.  They are the group that is typically interested in human rights cases and causes.  By doing so if there really is a huge problem with how the inmates are being treated they will get it addressed.  YOU won't profit from it but the inmates will be better off.

If you are looking for a huge windfall from your stay there you can pretty much forget about it.  Feel free to call around to a few attorneys but as I said in my other post I don't see any attorney taking the case on contingency (% as you put it) and others have told you this as well.  The odds on winning aren't good.  You don't have any damages.  In order to win a case like this you have to have damages.  Even if you are willing to pay an attorney you are talking hundreds of thousands of dollars to try a case like this.  Plus you are also talking about suing the state.  They can always claim sovreign immunity and the whole thing is dead in the water.

Contact the ACLU.  If it has merit they will address the jail conditions.
