    Commercial Lease

I signed a  Lease with a landlord for our school(OHIO) and since then she has did not have the building under code as she said then she has been talking with my parents and students about our business dealings!

She told ta parent about a check that wasnt honored but we replaced it quickly with a cashiers check. So her telling that made Parents take their  kids out of the school which made our income drop... which made us late for the next months rent..... then she went to a reporter about  us being late with the next rent in which made parents remove more students which has us closing our school down..   Of course Im not going to want to pay her anything..   so what do I do

    Laymans take:

    1. If you were late with rent she is free to broadcast that truth  over TV!

    2. If the building is NOT up to code you have a major problem to sort out whose job it is to bring it up to code--and I'd suggest you review your lease with counsel TODAY and if its her duty to bring it to code you lean all over LL by 8:01AM Monday--you may have MAJOR liability issues with kids in a building which is not up to code!

If its your failure to bring it to code and/or its not clear--heaven help you if the situation blows!

My personal guess is she has very severe code problems and she is trying to induce you to breech the lease--do NOT give her free ammunition!   This is not a home brew game to counter--go get legal counsel today!

    Ditto.

    See an attorney ASAP.

Not paying will only get you evicted.
