Before posting, double-check that your registration and message contains information you want others to know. Anything you post will not be privileged or confidential nor will any replies to your postings. Please refrain from posting the names or contact information of other individuals or businesses.

  • Compose a concise, informative message, including the name of the state you are located in, and title with a subject heading accurately reflecting the main point of your message. For example, a message entitled, "Grandparents' rights during custody battles" is more likely to be read than a simple, "Help!" in the subject line.

  • Refrain from giving advice, as in "you should do this" and "you should do that". Give tips and suggestions from your own experience, but recognize that none of us can give legal advice on this website. It's impossible to know every pertinent circumstance in someone's life and presumptuous to think you can fix someone's life in 25 words or less! Give information and options for others to consider.

  • Select language that is kind and respectful of others, even if you don't agree with their viewpoint or thoughts. Choose appropriate language. "Flaming", insults, and foul language are not acceptable. Any material that, within the judgment of, is harassing, defaming, offensive, abusive, or indecent will not be allowed. Agree to disagree if necessary, but respect others' opinions and problems.

  • Format your message to look like the print in a newspaper, magazine or book by using capital and lowercase letters in a traditional manner. . . neither all caps, nor all lowercase. The use of all capital letters looks and feels like SSHHOOUUTTIINNGG on the board. To help make your message easier for members to read and respond to, use standard punctuation.

  • Let others know what valuable information may be accessible at another site, Include a brief explanation of what is found at a URL/site posted in your message. Messages containing only URLs, obvious ads or commercial messages will be removed.

  • Do not post copyrighted material obtained from any source. If you've read an article that's relevant to the issue at hand, refer other members to the published article itself.

  • Select the most appropriate message board on which to post your message. Please do not "spam" your message across multiple boards, as this actually reduces the likelihood of your message getting addressed.

  • For technical help with the message boards, feel free to contact us at using "Message Board Assistance" as the subject. Please be aware that our webmasters cannot answer your legal questions!
