what happens if you lie to a police officer?

Two Policemen showed up at my sisters home, looking for my brother who had a warrant issued for him in 2008. My brother was there, but my sister lied saying he wasn't and hadn't been for a while. Now she's scared about being in trouble with the police for lying to them.

Is she in trouble? Can they do anything to her for lying?

She lives in Washington County, Wisconsin.

She can be charged with being an accessory after the fact by knowing he's charged with a crime and knowingly giving his aid and assistance in avoiding arrest.

It's often called "Obstruction of Justice" and it is a crime.

How do the police find out anything?
