    Question [=?] CAR TITLE

    my friend had co-sign me for my car loan.the car was on both of us name.Tragedy happened my friend got murdered last week.iam wondering what is going to happened now about my car.He left behined his seprated wife there no other relatives here than her.He is from other country.can anybody tell me what do i need to do get full title on my name when i get paid off the car loan.I will appriciated you help.

    This doesn't have anything to do with divorce law.

    If you had a contract with the guy to transfer his interest in the title to you upon full payment of the loan, then you can enforce that against the executor of his estate and/or his heirs (probably only his wife). Obviously, the procedure will be complex, but you'll first have to prove that you had a contract. Did you? Otherwise, his interest in the car simply passes to his heirs.

    But its extremely likley that your duty to pay up the loan remains even if the car goes to wife or junkyard-----
