Legal Professional: Build Your Business
I am about to file a chapter 7 and need to know if more than 1 copy of the forms are required by the court.
Since the forms are electronically filed, at least in the Middle District (I think it is in all districts, but I only know for sure in the middle district), The court only needs one. You should have one for your own records.
Do the forms have to be filed electronically or can you just bring the hard copy to bankruptcy court?
If you are going to do this yourself, you need to figure it out. Filing is about the easiest step. There are a lot more....See http://www.uscourts.gov/services-forms/bankruptcy/filing-without-attorney
The middle district will accept the original and electronically file them for you, at least they did when the first converted to electronic filing about 8 years ago. Call and ask.
Original plus one (1) copy
The copy requirement numbers above include the copy to be returned to the filing party. See Local Rules 1002 (a) (1) and 7010 (c) (1) . The IRS has access to documents through the internet, so a copy is not required to be forwarded.
Read the local rules at www.fl*b.uscourts.gov. Replace the asterisk with either an "n," an "m," or an "s," depending on whether you're in the Northern, Middle, or Southern District.
Thanks, im pro se and seeking waiver of fees.
The form for that is on the Middle district bankruptcy court (not district court) website, if you need the form. You file it with the petition.
