Village Boards authorized to grant variations for ANYTHING?

    Well yeah, but because there's four years in-between elections and a Board can do a lot of damage in that time, sometimes we're faced with pursuing other, more timely remedies.

    And my point is that there are no "other, more timely remedies" (at least not legal ones).  The only possible exceptions would be if there is some provision to recall the board members before the next scheduled election or if the board is doing something that is contrary to STATE (or federal) law.

    And I agree that the example you gave about selling cigarettes near a school would pose little, if any, harm to anyone.
