In process of appeal - can I fire my lawyer?

I had a workers comp case that was denied. My lawyer seemed to be ok at first and now that we have gone into the appeal process has complained and even yelled at me about the work she has to do and had to travel once (at my expense) for a meeting. She will not return my calls - even after 2 months! - she is rude and will not update me on my case even at my request. I am ready to fire her but need to know if that is something I can do. Will I be able to find a lawyer that will come in and take my case during the appeal process? If I win the appeal does my old lawyer still get a cut of that money as well?

You may wish to look for another attorney before you make a decision.
Any attorney fee is shared among all attys that have handled the case.
