    Divorce on Contingency

Are there attorneys who do divorces on contingency? My friend is going through a divorce and her husband owns a business, they own a house and a condo, etc. She wants to ask for alimony and money and attorney's fees, since he walked out of mediation, but she can't afford the fees of a good attorney. Is there anyone she can call? Thanks.

    Mostly I'd guess no.

But CA is a community property state and with a business and two homes there may be a better chance of getting a contingency lawyer than in other states.

    Sure.

She call call attorneys, one by one, and ask.

It would be unusual. She's better off asking for a payment plan so the attorney knows she will be paid regardless of what the eventual monetary settlement is.
