    CSRS disability retirement

I am 49 years old.  I have 28 years of service.  I am currently awaiting ajudication of an OWCP claim.

I have read about the general formula being applied and have calculated the  payment.  The question is... Is the 2% penalty for not reaching  the minimum age requirement imposed after the general formula calculation?

Is the high 3 determined using any of the OWCP  time?

My rough calculation is that with 28 years of service, you would get approximately 54%.  No penalty is imposed under disability retirement that I know of.  The OWCP time is normally not a factor and not used.  More precise calculations should be sought through various DR calculators, taking into account all of your information.

Have a good 4th of July.

    Sincerely, Robert R. McGill, Esquire
