Pennsylvania Law on Non Profit Organization Raising Money

I am a board member of a non-profit preschool in Pennsylvania.  We have moved to a new location and are currently trying to raise $440,000 for the construction of the new school. We sent out a captial campaign brochure on the school and our mission for our students and the school.  We were told by the state that we were not allowed to ask for money.  Who do I need to talk to or fill out paperwork to allow us to ask for money?

Two things I can tell you. Non profit organizations raise money all the time. And bureaucrats are often stupid.

The first thing you need to do is answer the following questions so we can figure out of if what you were told even has any validity.

    Who told it to you?

What was that person's position and authority?

Did that person cite you any laws or statute numbers or provisions that supported what you were told?

    • shall not be infringed.
