  • Re: General questions about lawsuit.

No number being made up. A lawyer told us it would cost us about $5K to try a case. They did not tell us what makes up that $5K and assume the courthouse is within 40 miles of the lawyers office as far as travel. All I can guess are court filing fees, misc.legal cost (other than the actual 33% or 40% legal fee) ?? and ?? ?? means I do not know. Are

The previous part of the thread was about jury. Legal fee is 1/3 for a settlement and 40% in the situation of a jury award. If we are told it would cost about $5000 to try a case what cost and fees, etc. would make up that $5000 to try a case if a settlement offered is rejected.

Legal fees from what I understand are generally 1/3 in a settlement. If a lawsuit is filed then the insurance company very likely (??) pulls the settlement off the table and that means the 1/3 legal fee is gone. And if there is no settlement talks that puts a settlement back on the table and / or a settlement is reached before the trial then the legal

  • Re: Accident in non resident states, states with no P&S

The questions were asked since people travel. Accidents can happen in states other than resident states. If we meaning us, our family members had an accident in another state and the other driver was at fault we'd want to know if their own state's low limits would apply or the limits of the state where the accident occurred. If we had to go

  • Accident in non resident states, states with no P&S

This came up in a casual conversation between friends. Suppose a resident of Iowa is travelling through Ohio and has an accident with someone from Indiana. Let's say the Iowan is at fault so his state's limits apply (?). Where would the trial be held if there was one, in Ohio? I would not want a mess like that with my Indiana vehicle being towed

I thought it had been resurrected by the previous poster. The last three comments are dated 2015. Ask the mods to lock the thread. There may be people who look through old threads for information pertinent to their situation, not sure on that.

We'll give our experience in another state. And things differ greatly from state to state and even city to city. The police can do some things and the sheriff in the country has a different policy. Each has it's own magistrate. Some cties have a limit of how many dogs you can have inside the city. Some have a limit of 2. Our city has no limit

  • Re: What can we conclude by these insurance company decision...

A rating is expected so the 3 was hypothetical so maybe such a rating is just one negotiating tool. ------------------------- We can hope that questions, comments, and answers (to and from us) can be of some value to other people in the future.

How does an impairment of 3% affect anything.

I did not consider it invalid. But there are legal firms online with articles and some agree with your comment and some do not. --------------------- Does the attorney first ask for re-inbursement for medical expenses and prescription medications up to the last date of treatment. Receive a check for that and then communicate further on the rest? The
